In short
- For 50 people, the 4-week challenge costs $350 and 12-month licenses cost $1,750.
- The challenge is cheaper in total, but it runs 4 weeks, not 12 months.
- One sensible path is to run the challenge first, then decide on licenses.
- Both options show the organization group totals only.
For 50 people, the 4-week challenge costs $350 and 12-month staff licenses cost $1,750. The challenge is cheaper in total, but it covers 4 weeks, while a license covers 12 months per person. The right choice depends on whether you need a test or a full year of access. This guide shows how to decide, and how to use both.
How do the two options compare?
| 4-week challenge | 12-month licenses | |
|---|---|---|
| Price for 50 people | $350 ($7 each) | $1,750 ($35 each) |
| Length | 4 weeks, plus one free setup week | 12 months per person from activation |
| Minimum | 10 participants | 10 people |
| Ends | On its own | After 12 months; renewal is a decision |
| Reporting | Weekly totals by email, for the group or teams of 5 or more | Group totals only |
| Billing | Not covered here | One-time payment, no auto-renewal |
What do the totals look like at other sizes?
Because the challenge is priced per participant and the licenses are priced per seat, the gap changes with headcount. The table shows three sizes.
| People | 4-week challenge | 12-month licenses |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | $70 | $350 |
| 50 | $350 | $1,750 |
| 100 | $700 | $3,200 |
The license price for 100 people uses the 61 to 150 tier at $32 per person. At 501 or more people, the license price falls to $24 per person per year.
When does the challenge make sense?
The challenge fits a first test. It lets a team try nutrition tracking for four weeks, look at weekly totals and decide what to do next. It works as a pilot, and it ends on its own, so there is nothing to unwind. The challenge has no in-app leaderboard, so results are shared as group totals rather than rankings. The setup week is free.
When do licenses make sense?
Licenses fit a team that has already decided to offer the app for a full year. Each person gets 12 months from activation, and the price per person falls as the headcount rises. Licenses are a one-time payment with no auto-renewal, so the next year is a separate decision.
How can you use both?
- Run the 4-week challenge with at least 10 people.
- Review the weekly totals and the feedback from participants.
- Decide the headcount for licenses, based on what you saw.
- Order one seat for each person, with one email address for each seat.
- Premium turns on within one business day of the list and payment.
Keep the two decisions separate in your budget, so the challenge cost is not counted as a license payment. Read how to run a 4-week nutrition challenge at work for the challenge steps, and what happens to unused seats in a team app plan if the headcount changes after you order.
